NewsGroup Instructions Every Microsoft Windows workstation comes preinstalled with a program called Outlook Express which allows you to view e-mail forums in a newsgroup format without the hassle of having it go through your inbox. If you would like to try this option out, below are some detailed directions on how to set it up.
1. From the Start Menu choose Run. Type in news:// and hit the Enter key. Type in your name in the given screen and Click on the Next button. View Step 1
2. Type in your e-mail address in the given screen and Click on the Next button. View Step 2
3. Type in lists.mycivil.com in the given screen for NNTP server's address, leave the check box blank where it asks you whether or not the server requires you to logon, Click Next to proceed. View Step 3
4. Click on the Finish button. Next click on Yes in the given screen asking whether or not you wish to download the new newsgroups View Step 4
5. Double click on WaterTalk, StormTalk, SewerTalk forums, an icon should appear to the left of each forum. Click Ok on the bottom right hand side of this screen. View Step 5
6. The screen will now change and your forums are available on the left hand side of outlook express. Click on the list to view all the messages available. You can now post messages to the list by either clicking on the Reply or the Group Reply buttons on the menu bar. The Reply button simply goes directly to the sender and the Group Reply posts the message back to the list.
