Also FEMA is beginning a map modernization program. All of the FIRM maps are being converted into GIS. www.fema.gov -----Original Message----- From: Doug Harriman [mailto:dharriman@genterra.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 12:06 PM To: Haestad Forums Subject: [gistalk] Should we use GIS for inundation mapping? We have a client who wants us to show the extent of flooding which might occur in the event of a dam break. We have done this type of study for other clients in the past, but now we must help this particular client with maps and graphical representations in an effort to alleviate significant public safety concerns and fears. We currently have AutoCad, but we are wondering if now is the time to implement GIS Applications to adequately display the results for public relations purposes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Douglas Harriman, PE Associate Engineer GENTERRA Consultants, Inc.
