Stormwater Systems Modeling (CivilStorm)

Abstract
This 2-day course includes intensive, focused training on the new CivilStorm application where you will learn and apply every feature to realistic drainage situations. With CivilStorm, you will approach drainage design and analysis using an entirely new and cutting edge modeling paradigm – unsteady flow routing through interdependent systems of inlets, storm sewers, channels, culverts, and ponds. With CivilStorm, you will unify all of your drainage components into a single model that runs within the Windows or CAD environment.

You will apply CivilStorm to calculate runoff hydrographs, create hydraulic grade lines through pipes, channels, culverts, and ponds, and then animate those profiles over time. You will also compare results for various events and design alternatives, color code system elements over time, and locate potential flooding. During this course, you will import aerial photography, establish background layers, setup a pre-developed model, and then design a proposed drainage system.

Benefits
Attendees will learn how to design and simulate complex stormwater systems using a new paradigm for modeling complex systems of storm sewers, inlets, channels, culverts and ponds within a single dynamic stormwater model. This new paradigm will enable engineers to model the dynamic interaction between all components of a stormwater system, and design more effectively.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of stormwater hydrology and hydraulics or PondPack training course.

Products Covered
CivilStorm

Who Should Attend
Design engineers, project managers, and municipal engineers of all experience levels who deal with stormwater modeling issues will benefit from these hands-on workshops. This stormwater course applies to engineers who analyze, design, or review plans for stormwater systems that involve general site drainage, inlets, storm sewers, channels, culverts, or detention ponds. In particular, this course will help those who want to model entire complex stormwater systems using a single dynamic model.

Course Content

  • Apply dynamic modeling to full stormwater systems
  • Simulate inlets, channels, culverts, and ponds in one model
