HEC-RAS Modeling & Mapping

Abstract
The standard HEC-RAS modeling and mapping course presents the fundamentals of open channel hydraulics and the basics of the HEC-RAS program. The training introduces the student to floodplain model development and the use of HEC-RAS for assessing the impacts of bridges, culverts and other floodplain features. Day 3 addresses the FEMA flood insurance program, the use of HEC-RAS to compute a floodway, and tools to check work prior to submittal to FEMA.

Benefits
Students will review the fundamentals of open channel hydraulics, learn how and when to apply HEC-RAS, and cover the FEMA Flood Insurance Program. They will gain an understanding of the capabilities of HEC-RAS and FEMA review requirements through a series of lectures and hands-on computer exercises.

Prerequisites
Basic understanding of open channel hydraulics.

Products Covered
HEC-RAS

Who Should Attend
The standard training package is geared toward new modelers and first-time attendees who wish to become proficient with HEC-RAS and be able to continue on with the advanced curriculum. This course is ideal for reviewers, developers, and project engineers involved with open channel hydraulic studies, bridge and culvert hydraulic studies, and FEMA flood insurance studies.
