Abstract
This training series begins with intensive training for dealing with the FEMA review
process. The remaining two days focus on applying
advanced procedures within HEC-RAS through a mixture of lectures and
hands-on workshops.
This class covers complex water surface profile modeling situations and demonstrates
how to address them using the advanced features in HEC-RAS. Topics covered include
advanced bridge and culvert analysis, and supercritical and unsteady flow analysis.
Benefits
Attendees will learn how to model complex bridge and culvert sites and accurately
determine expansion and contraction ratios using various techniques. Computing
scour at bridges is also covered. Students will also gain an understanding of when it
is appropriate to run mixed flow (alternating subcritical and supercritical) or
unsteady flow calculations, and how to model split flow and diversions.
Prerequisites
Students who have attended Standard HEC-RAS Training (see facing page) or who are experienced HEC-RAS users.

Who Should Attend
This portion of the training series is applicable to past attendees or experienced
HEC-RAS users who want to learn the advanced and new topics in HEC-RAS. This
course is ideal for those who want to better understand and apply the advanced
modeling capabilities of HEC-RAS.
