Abstract
The goal of this 3-day training series is to present stormwater fundamentals through hands-on software training for PondPack. Through creating and running models, you will review the theory and principles that underlie this program. You will use virtually every PondPack feature as we lead you through a range of watershed scenarios from simple to complex situations.

Through realistic examples, you will learn the fundamentals of stormwater hydrology, from the Rational Method to more sophisticated unit hydrograph methods. You will also review how to apply your local rainfall design storms to various drainage calculations. Additional exercises explore time of concentration, infiltration, runoff, and routing. You will learn and apply a systematic step-by-step process for designing detention ponds – from blank page to pond storage estimates, final pond geometry and outlet structure selection.

Benefits
This course reinforces the basic principles of hydrology, hydraulics, and pond design. Presentations include tips and techniques that apply to both design and review of stormwater facilities. Attendees will be able to more efficiently apply PondPack for modeling and designing stormwater detention.

Prerequisites
Basic understanding of hydraulics and hydrology.

Who Should Attend
Design engineers, project managers, and municipal engineers of all experience levels who deal with stormwater modeling issues will benefit from these hands-on workshops. This stormwater course applies to engineers who analyze, design, or review plans for stormwater systems that involve general site drainage, inlets, storm sewers, channels, culverts, or detention ponds.
